Early life\
\
Shriya Saran was born as second child to Neeranja and Pushpendra Saran. She was brought in Ranipur, a small town in north India, a few miles from the holy city of Haridwar. She has an elder brother Abhiroop, who recently got married. She started her career as an aspiring model with a serious interest in classical dancing. This led to roles in advertisements and music albums. And then she was noticed by movie director Sibi Malayil. Soon, she made her acting debut in his film Ishtam.\

Film career\

Shriya started her movie acting career with the Telugu film Ishtam (2001), produced by Usha Kiran Movies. This first film didn't fare too well at the box office, but she was noticed by many Telugu producers and directors. Soon she signed for Nagarjuna's Santosham (2002), which was a major hit and she didn't have to turn back since then. She was among he top divas of Tollywood.\
She made her Tamil movie debut in Enakku 20 Unakku 18 (2003), casted along with Telugu actor Tharun, Trisha Krishnan and Reema Sen. The film was a average hit at box-office, but it was more importantly a musical hit due to music composed by A. R. Rahman. She had plenty of glamorous roles lined up for her but instead continued with Tollywood for a year. But yet she has made her comeback in Kollywood through the film Mazhai with Jayam Ravi. Now she is acting with Rajinikanth in Sivaji: The Boss and Kamal Haasan in Dasavatharam. She has recently turned down offers of acting with the likes of Vijay and Vikram as she was bound to the agreement signed for Sivaji: The Boss.\
