New CodeProject Features

CodeProject 2.3.110328 has been released! Yes, we were up all night thinking of a catchy name for the latest iteration of CodeProject.com and we think we nailed it.

We have taken the wraps off our completely new search page that is ten times faster than our old search while providing results that span all types of content. Articles, Questions, forum messages, even catalog entries and your own CodeProject bookmarks. Refine the search by removing content types or dig down into specific attributes. We'll continue to fine tune and improve so any and all suggestions welcome.

We have also added a long, long, looong awaited feature for article authors. Download counts are now available for your articles (assuming you added downloads). We have spent the last couple of months scraping old, dusty IIS logs to recreate the data and as it stands the values we're reporting go back to 2002. More download goodness will come in future releases.

More competition winners

We'd like to congratulate our February winners from our Windows Azure Marketplace DataMarket Contest. Each won an Intel® i7 laptop:

Max http://download.cnet.com/MaxBrowse/3000-2356_4-75328892.html?tag=mncol;1
Igor Ladnik http://www.codeproject.com/KB/azure/RestfulWCF_Azure.aspx
Sourav Das http://www.inter-xect.com/Nowlogin.aspx

And our grand prize winner for our Windows Azure App competition, Igor Ladnik for his submission RESTful WCF + Azure AppFabric Service Bus = Access to Remote Desktop from Browser. Great work guys.

Help us keep our content organised

We've made a change to the way articles appear on Code Project and we need your help. If your Author reputation is Silver or higher, you now have the power to view articles / blog entries / tips & tricks that need approval, and either: approve them for publication on the site, report them as being inappropriate, or mark them as needing improvements.

From the home page you will be able to see the list of articles needing approval. When you view any post that is in pending status, simply hover over the checkbox that says "Approve or report this article" and select your desired option. After 5 reports the article is approved or closed depending on the majority. You also gain reputation points for moderating articles, so stand and be recognized as someone who took part in creating CodeProject's future.

cheers,
Chris Maunder
